TURN YOUR PDS INTO A GPS

Do you have a PDA which you always bring with you wherever you go? Are you wishing for a GPS device which you can use for your everyday travel and navigation? But you don't have more budgets to buy a new one? You don't have to worry because you already have the entire basic requirement to have a new GPS device.

With the present technology that we have, almost everything is possible to integrate. You can now change your gadget into a more efficient unit. One of which is turning your favorite PDA into a GPS device.

PDA is a better GPS navigator because it has a wide screen for easier and more specified view of the map as well as clearer voice prompt for directions. For a more personal unit, you can now add into your PDA your requirements for a GPS device. You can also choose from the different ways on how to change your gadget.

Compact Flash

Advantage. This is one of the cheapest options for your PDA conversion. It is a common sight for a PDA to have a compact flask which is inserted in the slot.

Disadvantage.  the compact flask GPS consumes a lot of power, causing the battery of your PDA to drain faster. Another is its positioning, since it is attached to the slot, it looks bulkier and bigger.

Bluetooth

Advantage. A wireless device is used when using a Bluetooth technology.  It is less bulky, keeping the GPS device somewhere and just showing the PDA. This is good for cars because you can position your PDA in the dashboard for easier viewing.

Disadvantage. Since you are using the newest Blue tooth technology, it is one of the more expensive devices for PDA.

Cabled to a hand-held GPS receiver

Advantage. This is another cheaper alternative GPS for your PDA. This is one of the all-purpose GPS units which you can use by holding it during hiking or put it in your car. The PDA has a larger monitor which is good for easier and wider viewing.

Disadvantage. It is bulkier than other options.

Cabled to a car-powered GPS receiver

Advantage. This is another less expensive option compared with other car GPS receivers. It is attached to the car's batteries and not in your PDA's so it won't drain the battery. It has a Y-cable which can power also the PDA at the same time.

Disadvantage. This can be used only inside the car.

Sleeve

Advantage. This is an additional cover which adds more functions for a PDA.

Disadvantage. The sleeve is not compatible to all PDA units. It has specific models for specific PDA units.
